The Stars Group has appointed its chief corporate development officer, Robin Chhabra, as CEO of its new US sports betting joint venture with Fox Sports, Fox Bet.
Chhabra has been with Stars Group since September 2017, prior to which he was group director of strategy and corporate development at William Hill for seven-and-a-half years.
Earlier in his career, Chhabra also had a three-year spell as director of corporate development at Inspired Gaming Group.
Speaking in an investor call about the new venture with Fox, Chhabra described the agreement with Fox Sports as a “very deep partnership” that delivers huge benefits for both parties.
“We’ve been working hard on this for many months, and it’s now really exciting to confirm the details,” Chhabra said. “We have confidence the Fox Sports brand will serve as the ideal springboard to build a market leading position in the US.
“At The Stars Group, we know how to make a great product and how to promote, not only to drive activity, but to drive network effects. We believe our team is unmatched in driving engagement using our product.
“We are building a great team to make Fox Bet the market leader in the US, combining international sports wagering expertise from The Stars Group, Sky Bet and BetEasy, with deep US knowledge from local operators.”
Chhabra also revealed details of an advisory board that will be set to up oversee Fox Bet. This will be led by Ted Moss, the former managing director SkyBet UK.
