bet365 has entered the Mexican online gaming market through a partnership with Ganador Azteca, a subsidiary of multimedia conglomerate TV Azteca.
The Stoke-based operator has launched a sportsbook under the bet365.mx domain, working under a licence awarded to Ganador Azteca in September 2018.
This 25-year licence from Mexico’s gambling regulator Dirección General de Juegos y Sorteos (DGJS) allows the subsidiary to operate a land-based casino in Yanga Municipality in the state of Veracruz.
The licence also cleared Ganador Azteca to launch an igaming offering. The permit was amended on November 7, 2018 to allow the company to contract a third party to power its online offering, with bet365 approved to serve as that partner by the DGJS on November 28.
The operator joins a number of other international igaming operators and suppliers in launching a Mexican offering. Spain’s Codere is already live under the Codere.mx domain, having originally launched its International Game Technology-powered offering under the Greenplay.mx URL. Playtech is also active in the market, powering local operator Caliente’s offering.
bet365 is also looking to secure one of Buenos Aires province’s seven igaming licences, having partnered Argentinean bingo operator Pasteko for the launch. It is also preparing to enter the New Jersey and New York markets, in partnership with Hard Rock Atlantic City and Empire Resorts respectively.
