Sports media company The Action Network has hired Ari Borod, former vice president for legal affairs of FanDuel, as its new chief commercial officer.
Borod, who worked at FanDuel since 2015, will work on sourcing deals for the Action Network with media companies and sports leagues.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ari to the team. His knowledge, expertise, and understanding of the sports-betting landscape will elevate our position in the market,” said Action Network chief executive Patrick Keane said.
“Ari’s operational experience at FanDuel will be key as we grow our partnerships with media companies, leagues and rights holders and as we build affiliate partnerships with legal sportsbook operators.”
Action was founded in 2017 by The Chernin Group, a media holding company led by former News Corp. president and chief operating officer Peter Chernin.
Since its foundation, it was struck a content partnership with ESPN, which includes a show on the ESPN+ streaming network, and has hired sports media personalities including sports business analyst Darren Rovell.
“I’ve always been excited about companies that sit at the intersection of sports and technology. The Action Network’s world-class content and product leave it well-positioned to become a premier brand in the American sports betting market”, Borod said.
