Delaware sports betting market recovers in June

The Delaware Lottery has reported an increase in sports betting revenue in June, following two consecutive months of decline in the regulated state.

Revenue last month amounted to $466,705 (£383,532/€418,696), up from $406,293 in May and the highest monthly total since posting $615,772 in April this year.

Consumers spent a total of $6.3m on sports betting throughout June, compared to $5.9m in May, while punters won a collective $5.8m, up from $5.5m in the previous month.

Delaware Park remains the leading sports betting market in the state by some way, posting revenue of $296,694 from $4m in total wagers. This is up from revenue of $252,067 and $3.6m in customer spend in May.

Dover Downs retained second place in the state in June, despite seeing a month-on-month decline in both revenue and wagers. Sports betting revenue fell from $101,444 in May to $91,789 last month, while total bets slipped from $1.5m to $1.3m.

Harrington Raceway made some ground on Dover Downs in June, with revenue climbing from $52,782 in May to $78,222. Consumers also spent more at Dover Downs, with total wagers increasing from $768,048 to $1m.

Last week, the Delaware Lottery revealed that monthly revenue from state’s regulated igaming market slipped to a year-low of $257,263 in June, while consumer spending was at its lowest since January.
