DraftKings has announced that it will launch its online sportsbook product in the US state of Massachusetts on March 10, subject to licensing and regulatory approvals.
Players in the state will be able to place bets on a wide range of sports events, including those that feature Massachusetts-based teams such as the NFL’s New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics of the NBA.
Bet types available to players will include same-game parlays, player props, special odds and boost selections, while customers will also have access to a number of promotions exclusive to the state.
Should the launch proceed as expected, Massachusetts would become the 21st US state in which DraftKings offers online sports betting.
“It was just over 10 years ago when we launched DraftKings from a spare bedroom in Watertown, and now, we are proud to have the opportunity to deliver a safe and legal sports betting product to millions of diehard sports fans across Massachusetts,” DraftKings co-founder, chairman and chief executive Jason Robins said.
“This launch will mark a major milestone for our company, and we’re proud to become the hometown sportsbook for customers in the Commonwealth.”
The launch comes after DraftKings last month raised its 2023 revenue guidance to $2.95bn, up from $2.90bn, after experiencing “better than expected” sportsbook results – among other successes – in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Revenue for the quarter was $855m in total, a rise of 81% year-on-year.
