DraftKings launches mobile app in West Virginia

News

DraftKings has launched its mobile sportsbook in the West Virginia market, while the operator has also added NetEnt content to its igaming offering in New Jersey.

Punters in West Virginia will now be able to place sports bets via the DraftKings sportsbook app on mobile and online, with the ability to switch between real-money and daily fantasy play.

The West Virginia sportsbook launch was made possible through a partnership with Penn National Gaming, which DraftKings agreed in December of last year.

“We are thrilled to continue our DraftKings Sportsbook expansion by getting our product into the hands of West Virginians,” DraftKings’ co-founder and chief revenue officer, Matt Kalish, said.

“We look forward to serving our fans with the top-rated DraftKings Sportsbook app, that features numerous consumer protection features and strives to provide the broadest selection of betting options with the best odds and rewards in West Virginia.”

It becomes the second mobile offering to launch in West Virginia this week, following the roll-out of FanDuel’s offering. The Flutter Entertainment-owned operator, which is partnered with The Greenbrier, launched on 26 August.

DraftKings had originally planned to launch its mobile app in June. However the West Virginia Lottery Commission delayed this, over concerns related to the location of the operator’s physical servers.

Meanwhile, DraftKings has moved to enhance its iGaming offering in New Jersey by adding a selection of video slots and table games from NetEnt to its platform.

“DraftKings has a large player base and we are certain that they will enjoy our portfolio of casino games,” NetEnt Americas managing director Erik Nyman said. “Players in the US can also look forward to a very exciting roadmap of games to be launched during the rest of the year and beyond.”
