Online sports betting operator PointsBet has appointed Eric Foote, previously of CBS Sports Digital, as the new chief commercial officer of its US business.
Foote will join the operator on 6 January, will be based Denver, Colorado, and also sit on PointsBet’s global executive team.
He has worked in the North American sports and media industry for over 20 years, most recently serving as vice president of business development and partnerships for CBS Sports Digital.
“Sports betting is just getting started in the US and I’m excited to be joining such an ambitious, talented and well-positioned team,” Foote said. “PointsBet has already established a successful business and made significant progress since PASPA repeal, and I look forward to working with the team in pursuit of market leadership.”
PointsBet’s chief executive Sam Swanell added: “We are very pleased that a senior executive of Eric’s quality and experience is joining PointsBet.
“His understanding of the US media landscape and the opportunities that this can provide our company will be invaluable as we continue to expand across the United States and seek strategic partnerships.”
The appointment comes after PointsBet last month announced that it had raised more than AUD$85m (£43.8m/€52.6m/USD$58.8m) from its share issue as it executives its expansion US expansion plans.
PointsBet said there was strong support from new and existing shareholders who raised $60m at $3.60 per share, 12.5% above the entitlement offer price of $3.20.
The operator holds licences in New Jersey and Iowa, and last month set out plans to expand in Colorado next year after the state legalised sports wagering.
