The reopening of retail venues in June contributed to more month-on-month growth in the Hawkeye State, with amounts wagered rising to $12.7m.

While retail returned, customers staked just $1.1m at land-based venues during the month, and licensees ultimately posted losses of $41,321 for the channel in June as online continued to dominate.
Online handle – at a time when most major US sports are yet to resume following the Covid-19 shutdown – came to $11.6m, a significant advance on May’s $7.0m figure, with revenue of $662,062 left after customer winnings.
The reopening of retail premises resulted in a reshaping of market shares, with Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino, partnered with William Hill, seeing its share of revenue decline to 33.4%. While this still constitutes a market-leading position, it represents a significant decline from May, when it accounted for 49.1% of the state’s sports betting GGR.
In second was Wild Rose Jefferson, which accounted for 18.4% of GGR in June. This marked a leap from the DraftKings-allied venue’s 7.7% share in the previous month.
In third was another William Hill partner, Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo, on 11.3%.
