Indiana set new monthly records for sports betting revenue and handle during November, according to new figures released by the state’s regulator.
Revenue for the month reached $25.3m, which was 172.0% more than $9.3m in November last year, and also 19.9% higher than the existing monthly record of $21.1m that was set in October this year.
Figures from the Indiana Gaming Commission also show that the state’s handle hit a new high of $251.4m, up 70.7% from November 2019 and surpassing the previous record of $230.9m achieved in October 2020 by 8.9%.
Football remained the most popular sport to wager on in Indiana, with consumers spending a total of $113.5m on bets, representing 45.2% of all wagers placed during the month.
Parlay bets amounted to $66.0m in November, while basketball wagers totalled $17.7m and baseball bets $393,585. The remaining $53.3m wagers were placed across other sports.
Penn National Gaming’s Ameristar Casino and its DraftKings sportsbook retained top spot in the Indiana market, posting $8.4m in revenue from $103.7m in bets.
The Blue Chip Casino and its FanDuel sportsbook was close behind in second with $8.1m in revenue, despite having a significantly lower handle of $66.0m.
Other stand-out performers included the Penn National Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, with $2.5m in revenue and a handle of $21.5m, while Belterra Casino, which runs a BetMGM sportsbook, posted $2.3m in revenue, but a higher handle at $26.2m.
Horseshoe Hammond was the only other casino to see revenue surpass $1m in November, with this reaching $1.1m off a handle of $7.3m.
Licensed sportsbook operators in Indiana paid a total of $2.4m in sports betting taxes during the month.
