Pennsylvania operators recorded a seventh consecutive month of record online gaming revenue, with the total growing to $80.4, while state sportsbooks also set a record in handle.
The igaming revenue mark easily broke December 2020’s previous record of $71.6m and was up 476.1% from January 2020.
Online slots made up most of the state’s igaming revenue at $51.0m, more than seven times January 2020’s revenue. Online table game revenue was up 380.0% to $26.7m and online poker revenue was up 28.6% to $2.7m.
Among online operators, Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino – which has online skins including DraftKings as well as its own brand – led the way in revenue with $27.6m. Rivers Casino Philadelphia – with skins including Rush Street Interactive – brought in $21.0m, while Valley Forge Casino, which has a FanDuel-branded online product, brought in $14.7m.
Hollywood Casino’s igaming revenue consisted of $16.2m from online slots and $11.4m from table games. While it led the market in online table game revenue, Rivers brought in more from online slots at $16.5m. Valley Forge was the only operator to bring in more from table games, at $8.0m, than slots.
Turning to sports betting, state sportsbooks made $34.0m in revenue, down marginally from the previous month but up 48.7% from January 2020. This came on bets worth $615.3m, a new record and up 76.7% year-on-year.
Of this $34.0m, $29.9m was made online, while $4.0m came from retail bets.
Valley Forge Casino Resort’s FanDuel sportsbook brought in almost half of the state’s betting revenue at $14.5m on bets worth $223.3m, well ahead of the Meadows and DraftKings at $7.7m on bets of $145.2m.
Parx Casino’s own sportsbook was a distant third in revenue with $1.8m. Third in handle, meanwhile was Hollywood Casino’s Barstool Sportsbook, with $66.5m, which turned to $1.1m in revenue.
The state’s overall gaming revenue came to $311.1m, up 2.7% from 2020. Parx Casino led the way with $49.5m, with Hollywood Casino following with $43.6m. Valley Forge brought in $37.9m and Rivers Casino Philadelphia $36.8m.
While land-based slot revenue was down 26.1% year-on-year, it still made up the largest portion of the state’s gaming revenue at $140.7m, while land-based table games brought in $50.8m. Parx was the leader in both slot and table games revenue.
