FanDuel migrates to SG-powered sportsbook solution in Illinois and Indiana

News

FanDuel Group has debuted its OpenSports-powered sportsbook in two further states with the platform now available in Illinois and Indiana.

FanDuel has been operational in both jurisdictions for some time, but is now seeking to enhance its offering through the deployment of the Scientific Games Corporation technology.

In August 2020, Flutter said it would migrate all sports betting brands to a solution that incorporates both proprietary technology and SG’s OpenSports platform.

Through the partnership between the supplier and FanDuel owner Flutter Entertainment, the OpenSports platform was already live in Colorado and West Virginia, with a further six launches planned over the coming months.

Jordan Levin, group chief executive for digital at Scientific Games, said: “World class operators like FanDuel need sports technology partners like Scientific Games.

“We have a long and successful partnership with Flutter and it’s exciting to see our leading sports betting technology go live in more states with their iconic FanDuel brand. Providing them with renowned platform stability and scalability gives them a rock-solid foundation to maximise player engagement and market share.”

FanDuel launched in Illinois soon after sports betting was legalised last August and just in time for the start of the National Football League (NFL) season. It first entered the Indiana market back in October 2019.

The six remaining states where FanDuel is live but not yet using OpenSports are New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Tennessee, Virginia and Michigan.

On the launch of the OpenSports platform in West Virginia in December 2020, FanDuel chief executive Matt King said: “We are excited to roll out our next generation sportsbook technology throughout the US, starting with West Virginia. Our global sports betting platform will offer customers an unrivalled betting experience and will cement FanDuel’s place as America’s number one sportsbook.”

Scientific Games has been partnered with Flutter Entertainment for more than two decades. It also works with Flutter’s global sports brands including Betfair, Sky Bet and Paddy Power in Europe and Sportsbet in Australia.

Scientific Games extended its contract with Flutter in September 2020.
