Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming, the gambling business of of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, have pledged to donate funds to ongoing relief work following the collapse of Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida.
The 12-story building collapsed in the early hours of June 24, leaving at least 28 people dead and a further 11 injured. Work is currently ongoing to recover any remaining survivors.
To support these efforts, Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming announced the Support Surfside Program , which an immediate minimum cash donation of $250,000 to the Support Surfside Fund.
The program will also include a public fundraising campaign at all restaurant, retail and hotel venues of Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming, with guests encouraged to round up their purchase amounts to the next dollar and also donate change to the Support Surfside Fund.
All team members of Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming will also be able to contribute directly to a designated account linked to the Support Surfside Fund, with this to be matched by Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming.
In addition, the Hard Rock Cafe Miami at Bayside Marketplace will prepare and deliver 100 dinners each day to help feed rescue workers at the site.
“In keeping with one of Hard Rock’s founding mottos of ‘Take Time to Be Kind,’ Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming team members want to do something meaningful to help people affected by this tragic event,” Hard Rock International chairman and Seminole Gaming chief executive Jim Allen said.
“Our Support Surfside Program is about reaching out to our neighbors in need and extending a helping hand.”
