Sports betting provider BetMGM has entered into a strategic partnership with Casino del Mar at La Concha Resort in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Following regulatory approvals, BetMGM will launch a new retail sportsbook at the Casino del Mar at La Concha beach resort and its mobile app throughout Puerto Rico.
The launch is set to occur when the regulated market opens in Puerto Rico.
“At Casino del Mar at La Concha Resort we strive every day to provide the best gaming experience on the island, and this new venture alongside BetMGM is a great example of this,” said Sigfrido De Jesús, general manager of Casino del Mar at La Concha.
“Sports fans in Puerto Rico will now add excitement to their pastime with the possibility of winning more than just a game by their favorite team.”
The partnership will see BetMGM expand beyond the US mainland for the first time. its first market access agreement outside of the US mainland. It follows then-Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced signing Senate Bill 1534 into law, paving the way for legal betting on traditional sports and esports.
Vázquez Garced’s successor as Governor, Pedro Perlusi, has since established an advisory board as Puerto Rico progresses towards launch.
