PointsBet strikes partnership with Curling Canada

News

PointsBet Holdings has announced that its subsidiary, PointsBet Canada, has been announced as the exclusive sports betting partner of Curling Canada.

As part of the deal, PointsBet will provide exclusive sportsbook and online casino services in conjunction with Curling Canada event broadcasts, and will see PointsBet use the Curling Canada brand in its marketing campaigns.

The partnership will also see PointsBet become the title sponsor of Curling Canada ‘s Seasons of Champions event, which will begin in the 2022-2023 season.

The deal comes weeks after PointsBet Canada entered into an exclusive sports betting  partnership with ice hockey sites Dailyfaceoff.com and The Nation Network.

“As one of the only true Canadian operators, it was important for PointsBet Canada to partner with organizations deeply rooted in our nation’s identity,” said Scott Vanderwel, CEO of PointsBet Canada.

“Our partnership with Curling Canada will not only support community-based sports but bring curling fans who, our research shows, are active bettors and over-index when compared to fans of other sports, an unprecedented sports betting experience.”

The deal comes after the legalization of single-event sports betting in Canada, when the Canadian Senate passed bill C-218 in June. Prior to this, bets could only be placed on multiple events.

Single-event sports betting officially launched in August.

“With the passing of legalized sports betting by the federal government this past summer, we knew that there would be many opportunities available for our sport to be part of a new, legal and regulated way for fans to enjoy our events,” said Katherine Henderson, CEO of Curling Canada.

“PointsBet’s track record speaks for itself, as the company has existing partnerships with a variety of highly regarded partners around the world, and we couldn’t be happier to enter into this new venture with an industry leader.”
