Arizona players wager $591.2m on sports in January

Consumers in Arizona spent $591.2m betting on sports during January, a 4.9% increase on the previous year.

The amount wagered in January was ahead of $563.7m in the same month last year and also 3.3% ahead of the $752.5m that was bet in December 2022.

Players bet a total of $585.4m on mobile and $4.8m at retail sportsbooks across the state.

Consumers won $543.7m from wagering in January, which left $46.2m in adjusted gross revenue prior to free bets, a year-on-year increase of 14.1% from $40.5m in January 2022.

Of this total, $45.7m was generated by mobile sports betting, with the remaining $398,314 coming from retail sportsbooks.

After deducting $17.2m in free bets and promotional credits revenue that were used during the month, adjusted gross revenue was $29.0m, up 48.0% from $19.6m in the previous year.

Online betting was responsible for $28.5m of total adjusted gross revenue, while $384,407 came from retail wagering.

Tax collected from sports betting during the month amounted to $2.9m.
