MGM Resorts and Entain joint venture BetMGM has agreed a deal to become the first official gaming partner of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, after Maryland Governor Larry Hogan signed sports betting legislation into law.
Under the deal, BetMGM signage will appear at the Ravens’ M&T Bank Stadium and on digital media, while the team and operator will work to create branded content for Ravens fans.
“When we began the process of carefully identifying sports betting and digital gaming partners, one of our top priorities was finding unique ways for Ravens fans to further engage with the team,” Ravens chief sales officer Kevin Rochlitz said.
“We are excited to partner with BetMGM and look forward to the specialized entertainment experience the company will provide for our fans.”
BetMGM chief revenue officer Matt Prevost said the operator was excited to offer new engagement opportunities to Ravens fans.
“The Ravens are an incredible organization with a rich history, and we’re proud to have BetMGM as the team’s first official partner in the gaming space,” he said. “We look forward to offering Ravens fans new ways to engage with their favorite football team on our market-leading platforms.”
Sports betting was legalised in Maryland yesterday as Governor Larry Hogan signed HB 940 into law. The bill sets out four different types of retail licenses, plus a license for mobile betting with all types of operator required to pay 15% of revenue in tax.
Sports betting was approved in Maryland in November 2020 after voters backed it through a referendum. This followed the bill to set up the referendum passing by an overwhelming majority in the Maryland senate.
