Betty Gaming has become the latest gambling business to secure approval in the Canadian province of Ontario.
Issued by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the new license will enable Betty Gaming to operate its Betty.ca website in the province’s regulated online gambling market.
The license came into effect on January 25 and runs thought until 24 January next year.
Headquartered in New York, Betty Gaming is backed by investors such as Courtside Ventures, CEAS Investments, Karlani Capital, OCA Ventures, Subversive Capital and Velo Partners.
Betty Gaming follows online casino brand Conquestador and casino software aggregation platform and technology solutions provider Markor Technology in securing approval in Ontario this month.
Confirmation of the license comes after iGaming Ontario (iGO), the body that manages online gambling in the Canadian province, reported the number of active online gaming player accounts doubled over the course of a strong final three months of 2022.
Total gaming revenue of CAD$457m was a 71% increase over Q2, while there were 910,000 active player accounts, which represents a 45% increase on Q2. Average monthly spend per active player account of CAD$167 in Q3 was also up 18% on Q2.
Total wagers during the three months to 31 December 2022 were CAD$11.5bn, which was up 91% over the previous quarter.
