Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has appointed Andréa Carter, senior executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Global Payments, to its board of directors.
Carter joined Global Payments in September 2017 as senior vice president of human resources and went on to become executive vice president and chief human resources officer before assuming her current role.
Prior to this, she was chief people officer at Habitat for Humanity, while also spent time as global vice president of human resources at Ralph Lauren and vice president of human resources at Newell Rubbermaid.
Earlier in her career, she spent two years as the director of human recourses at The Home Depot.

The appointment comes after CDI last month completed its purchase of substantially all assets of Peninsula Pacific Entertainment (P2E) for total consideration of $2.75bn.
The acquisition, agreed in February of this year, includes all P2E’s assets and operations in Virginia, New York and Sioux City, Iowa.
Completion follows the receipt of customary licensing approvals from the Virginia Racing Commission, the New York State Gaming Commission and the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.
