Cordish Companies makes two executive hires to support growth plans

News

Real estate and entertainment business Cordish Companies has appointed Cathy Beeding as executive vice president and general counsel and Suzanne Trout as executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

Beeding will assume responsibility for all legal, regulatory and compliance affairs, including oversight of all Live! Casino and Hotel properties in Maryland and Pennsylvania, along with igaming and sports betting initiatives.

She joins Cordish after a spell as vice president, senior counsel and corporate compliance officer at Churchill Downs Incorporated. Prior to this, she spent 18 years at Gulfside Casino Partnership, serving in a number of senior roles.

Meanwhile, Trout as executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Trout will now be responsible for both the planning and execution of key marketing and brand development strategies across the Cordish Gaming portfolio.

Trout was most recently chief marketing officer at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut and was previously senior vice president of marketing and advertising at Eldorado Resorts. In addition, she had a spell as senior vice president of marketing at Caesars Entertainment and spent time with Grand Casinos Inc.

“Cathy and Suzanne are seasoned professionals with years of industry experience, which will make them instrumental in the company’s growth as we continue to expand our brand across the country,” Cordish Gaming Group president Rob Norton said.

“We’re proud to add them to our corporate executive team and look forward to the exciting and fresh perspective they will bring to our business.”

The double appointment comes after Cordish recently opened two new casino properties in Pennsylvania in the form of Live! Casino Pittsburgh and Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia.

However, the operator did miss out in the race to open a new casino in South Richmond, Virginia, with Richmond City Council last month selecting One Casino + Resort as their preferred bid.
