The Cordish Companies has agreed a deal to acquire and redevelop Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel in Bossier City, Louisiana.
The facility has been closed since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, with Cordish saying it would carry out major construction work at the location to replace the existing riverboat casino with a new, land-based casino.
Once open, the casino would operate under the Live! name, which would mark the first time that the Cordish brand would be active in the state of Louisiana.
The acquisition is subject to approval by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, with further details of the project to be made public over the coming months.
“We are committed to creating a world-class resort destination that brings first-class gaming, dining, entertainment and hospitality amenities to the region, creates significant new jobs, and generates millions of dollars in economic benefits for the community,” Cordish Companies managing partner Joe Weinberg said.
Greg Guida, co-chief executive of Foundation Gaming & Entertainment, which will work with Cordish on the project, added: “We are thrilled to announce our agreement with The Cordish Companies and believe that the introduction of their Live! brand in the market will have a tremendous impact on the entire northwest Louisiana region.
“We are confident they will deliver a great product for the market, and we look forward to working with them to bring the project to fruition.”
Should the project go ahead, construction would take place alongside other ongoing work at locations in Texas, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.
