Elys Game Technology, the online gambling operator and supplier previously known as Newgioco Group, has joined the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) in the US.
Elys will work with the NCPG and its other members to develop and implement the association’s responsible gambling practices.
This will include strengthening the organisation’s problem gambling prevention, treatment, education, and research programs, as well as responsible gambling policies.
“There is no bigger responsibility for us than ensuring the best and safest possible experience for our gambling operators and their players, while providing assistance for those individuals who show signs of problem gambling behaviour,” Elys executive chairman Michele Ciavarella said.
“Partnering with NCPG further deepens our commitment to become a leader in responsible gaming and provides us valuable resources as we are preparing for the launch of our sports betting platform in the US.”
NCPG executive director Keith Whyte added: “Elys’ broad reach and commitment to responsible gambling will be a tremendous asset to NCPG as we continue raising awareness about problem gambling and the resources available to support those impacted.”
Elys’ commitment to the NCPG comes as the operator prepares to go live with sports betting in Washington D.C., in a launch that will mark its first roll-out in the US.
In November, Elys appointed Matteo Monteverdi as its new chief executive. He replaced Ciavarella in the role, with the latter moving to his new position as executive chairman of the business.
Also in November, Elys adopted its new name, rebranding from Newgioco Group to reflect its shifting focus towards the developing US sports betting market.
