FanDuel lands sportsbook deal with Cordish Companies

Flutter Entertainment-owned FanDuel Group has announced details a new strategic partnership to deliver both its fantasy and sports betting operations to Cordish Companies locations throughout the US.

The Cordish Companies is a real estate and entertainment business that operates a range of dining and gambling establishments across the US under the Live! brand. It claims to attract 55m visitors a year to these properties.

Under the deal, FanDuel and Cordish will initially focus on Pennsylvania, with plans to launch sportsbooks at Cordish’s Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia and Live! Casino in Westmoreland County.

FanDuel and Cordish will also pursue sports betting licenses and online gaming opportunities in Maryland, Washington DC, and other jurisdictions across the US as legal sports betting continues to expand in the country.

“We are excited to partner with FanDuel to bring our customers the premier sports betting experience in the country, including unique promotions and sports engagement opportunities that will only be available at Live! properties,” Cordish Companies principal Joseph Weinberg said.

FanDuel chief executive Matt King added: “With 10 decades of experience, the Cordish Companies have created the model for world-class integrated sports, gaming, entertainment and hospitality destinations.

“This partnership allows us to capitalize on the incredible success of sports betting to date and bring FanDuel’s top sports betting operations to Cordish destinations across the United States.”

Valley Forge Casino, which runs a FanDuel-powered sportsbook, ranked as the most popular sportsbook in Pennsylvania in October, posting $5.8m in revenue – $5.6m of which was generated online.

Meanwhile in New Jersey, Meadowlands and its two sub-licensees FanDuel and PointsBet also led the state’s market in November with $14.9m in revenue, while in Indiana, FanDuel and Blue Chip Casino saw revenue reach $1.7m in the month.
