Intralot has signed a contract with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), the lottery and gaming solutions provider’s first deal in the Canadian market.
The supplier’s US subsidiary Intralot Inc is to provide BCLC with a central lottery system, including its Lotos X platform, as well as its lottery terminals, additional software and ongoing maintenance services to the provincial lottery operator.
The lottery terminal and supply deal was originally won by Novomatic Lottery Solutions (NLS) in 2017, following a public procurement process. However in October 2018, BCLC and NLS then agreed to assign the contract to Intralot, which was already supplying terminal hardware as part of the original agreement.
In January the year, BCLC then conducted a separate procurement process for gaming engine services, which was won by Intralot.
The contract, which has an up front value of CAD$24.5m (US$18.2m), will run for an initial five years, and can be extended for a further six.
As well as new lottery terminals, Intralot will enhance the BCLC’s offering with the roll-out of ticket checking machines, printers and display units, which are expected to launch in the supplier’s 2021-22 financial year.
“We are pleased to have been awarded by BCLC with a new contract to deliver our next-generation lottery solutions which will drive players’ engagement and transform their playing experience,” Intralot deputy chief executive Nikos Nikolakopoulos said.
“This agreement represents a significant milestone for Intralot entering the Canadian market, offering our industry-leading product portfolio to enable long-term innovation and constant growth, ultimately generating more revenue for the benefit of the Province of British Columbia community.”
