Atlanta, Georgia-based fantasy sports operator, PrizePicks has sealed a new partnership with local Major League Baseball (MLB) team, Atlanta Braves, for the remainder of the 2020 season.
Having secured a similar marketing deal with Miami Marlins earlier in the season, the operator hopes to expand its footprint across the south-eastern states.
The Braves deal represents the latest in a series of creative partnerships, including with sporting organisations such as the American Cornhole League, the Outlaw Golf Tour, and esports’ SMITE Pro League, all of which have been inked in the past year.
The deal represents an attempt to increase engagement among sports fans in spite of restrictions in place as a result of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, which prevent spectators from attending games.
PrizePicks previously signed an individual partnership with Braves legend Andruw Jones in 2019.
Jones also became a shareholder in the company last year, commenting at the time: “Their market is on fire, and they have a product I knew could be huge from the moment I saw it,”
“Seeing the Braves partner with PrizePicks was only a matter of time, and it’s great to know my former team sees the potential in the company just like I do. Their industry will see massive growth in the coming years.”
Since the return of live sports, PrizePicks claims to have experienced a period of unprecedented growth, which it hopes will be bolstered further by its marketing partnerships.
In the absence of legalised sports betting across the majority of the US, the operator aims to create an experience as close as possible for residents of those states without online gaming regulations.
By focusing on over/under predictions of fantasy point projections, the product allows users to “play against the numbers, rather than each other”. It is the third product from software developer Performance Predictions.
