RSI to launch BetRivers.com brand in Virginia

News

Betting and igaming operator Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has announced that it will launch its BetRivers.com brand in Virginia tomorrow (January 28), making it the third operator to launch in the state.

BetRivers.com will operate in the US state via a partnership with Rush Street Gaming’s yet-to-be-built land-based facility Rivers Casino Portsmouth – an agreement that will permit RSI to offer sports betting in Virginia for 20 years.

Rivers Casino will be the first land-based casino in the state to launch with an online sports betting partner, though the actual casino facility is not due to open until 2023, with construction work to begin this year.

“We’re pleased to add Virginia to the growing list of states RSI and BetRivers.com call home as we continue to expand across the country and bring our exciting and trusted online sports betting product to new customers who appreciate an operator like us who focuses on earning and retaining player trust,” RSI president Richard Schwartz said.

“Together with Rivers Casino, we look forward to offering Virginians safe, convenient and enjoyable online sports betting for years to come from a local brand they can trust.”

BetRivers.com will be the third online sports betting brand to launch in Virginia this month, following FanDuel last week and DraftKings earlier this week.

The Virginia Lottery has issued 26 sports betting vendor licenses to affiliates, payment providers and data suppliers.

The launch comes after RSI last week also launched its online sports wagering offering in Michigan. RSI said that National Football League (NFL) conference championship games were responsible for 39% of its handle during its first weekend in the state.

RSI is also offers sports betting in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Colorado and Indiana. The operator spun off from Rush Street Gaming and went public on the New York Stock exchange at the end of 2020 through a reverse merger with dMY Technology Group.
