Women’s Tennis Association names FanDuel as official operator

News

The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has announced FanDuel as its authorized gaming operator in North, South and Central America.

The partnership will see WTA highlights broadcast on FanDuel’s platform, marking the first time video highlights of a women’s sport will feature on FanDuel’s platforms and sportsbooks.

FanDuel and WTA will also collaborate on several responsible gaming measures.

“We are incredibly proud of our commitment to supporting women in sports and are continuously looking for new ways to further raise awareness of female athletes, teams, and all women in sports,” said Amy Howe, president and interim CEO of FanDuel.

“Our platforms are now a destination for WTA content and highlights, which significantly enriches the sports betting experience, while continuing to expand our media and content capabilities.”

As part of the deal, FanDuel will also make use of WTA’s trademarks and will also use WTA Tour’s scoring data, supplied by Stats Perform.

Stats Perform, along with Sportradar, entered into an exclusive data deal with the WTA in March this year. Ahead of the deal, Stats Perform entered into a partnership with Sporting Solutions to offer automated pricing for in-play WTA events.

“The WTA is pleased to welcome FanDuel as its first Authorized Gaming Operator,” said Micky Lawler, president of WTA.

“This milestone not only delivers on the growing appetite fans have for a more personalized sporting experience, but also paves the way for us to have a proactive role in managing the responsible gambling standards and practices we wish to foster.”
